Adjust Your Sails!

Adjust Your Sails!

Wisdom Wednesday harp practice

The pessimist complains about the wind.

Are you like me and find yourself complaining about the obstacles in your way to practice harp?

The optimist expects [the wind] to change.

Do you sit and wait for that wind to change, thinking "I'm seeing the glass half full, it will eventually change!"?

The realist adjusts the sails.

This is where the rubber meets the road. It's time to adjust your sails! What obstacles are keeping you from practicing? Don't wait around for those obstacles to magically disappear. Adjust your approach.

These tips have worked for myself and other harpists!

1- Change your time of day you practice

2- Change the order of material you practice daily/weekly

3- Change your workout routine before/after practice: try a quick and gentle stretch or jogging in place to get your energy up right before practicing

4- Energy too high? Try a quiet 1 minute (1 minute is quick!!) meditation right before practicing. Breathe slowly, close your eyes, say a few positive affirmations to build up your confidence.

What are you waiting for? No time like the present. Find your moment and adjust your sails to propel your practice today!

Happy Harping :-)
